Welcome to the SSC Team Resources Page!
This is a guide for coaches and teams to get an SSC team.
It is in a step-by-step format to make it easy for you to get things started! |

|
Read The SSC Handbook
First thing to do, if you haven't, is to read the SSC handbook. (change to Draft Handbook NO2 Mark 2) |

|
Join SSC
- Join SSC. Each competitor and coach must become a member — click here to join). Membership includes a subscription to Front Sight magazine, the official journal of USPSA and SCSA.
|

|
Join (or Form) A Team
- Link up with a host club: We strongly suggest getting to know your local practical shooting club. Even if they haven’t started an SSC team yet, its members will have a great deal to teach about the world of practical shooting. Click here for the SCSA Club Finder. and here for the USPSA Club Finder (USPSA clubs often run “unofficial” steel events.)
- Sign the release forms. Every SSC competitor must have his/her parent or guardian complete, sign and return the parental consent form to the coach before they can compete. These documents must be retained by the coach or team representative. Why? This document confers "legal guardianship" to the coach. Many states require that a junior have a parent or "legal guardian" present in order to possess (or in some cases, control) a handgun. To keep everyone on the right side of the law, we insist that the coach maintain these documents. The form is part of the Unit Registration Packet, below.
- To Form Your Own Team, download the Unit Registration Packet.

Start Shooting!
Now it's time to start having fun and competing in SSC.
- Local Scores: The scores you shoot in practice or local events don't need to be uploaded, but in order to become an "active" club and qualify for our various assistance programs, your unit needs to post at least one "record" score. (SSC National Championship titles are decided on the basis of "record" scores.)
- Record Scores: "Record" scores must be fired at SCSA-affiliated clubs (for example, at the SSC Fall Collegiate Championship, held at the Sig Sauer Academy in NH). When your group shoots with an SCSA-affiliated club, your scores will be uploaded by them. SSC events use the same software as "adult" SCSA matches, but the matches are set up slightly differently.
If you'd like to host your own matches and post your own scores to the SCSA, you'll need to become an SCSA-affiliated club yourself. The form is included in the registration packet.
- Scores Upload – Once you have our official software installed, you can login and upload scores.

Do You Need Support?
SSC has a range of support packages for everything from guns, to ammo, to training equipment.
EQUIPMENT:
What we have varies month to month, but if you need for something specific, send us e-mail at robin@uspsa.org
TRAINING:
Every one of the eight USPSA area directors has a small budget for sending eligible juniors from their area to training camps. MGM Targets runs a high-profile camp in Nampa, Idaho. The US Army Marksmanship Unit runs one at Fort Benning, Georgia. Camp instructors rank among the top shooters in the world. Tuition is always sharply below market, and the Area directors may be able to help anyone for whom tuition is a problem. We strongly encourage representatives of every unit to attend, and share what they learn with the rest of their unit.
DISCOUNT PROGRAMS:
Ammunition, handguns, targets, etc. are all available to SSC teams at a discount. For a complete list of items click here for Members Discounts or use the "Member Discounts" button at the top of any page within this web site. |
