SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — The Scholastic Steel Challenge (SSC) announced that the Outdoor Wire Digital Network (OWDN) has agreed to support the new youth shooting program with a donation of $36,000 in display advertising on The Outdoor and The Shooting Wires.

The Scholastic Steel Challenge is a national team-oriented youth shooting program developed by the Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA) and funded in part by a grant from the National Shooting Sports Foundation. The program is open to young men and women ages 12 to 20 and offers them the opportunity to compete as a four person team for a national title in the action pistol discipline of speed shooting.

“Competitive handgun shooting is the single area of shooting sports that hasn't been promoted before,” said Jim Shepherd, publisher of the Outdoor Wire Digital Network, "we believe this is the most exciting competitive opportunity in shooting sports, and the one best suited for young people. They'll love the 'bang and clang' aspects of SSC.”

“Each week the Outdoor Wire Digital Network reaches more than 400,000 readers, many on a daily basis, and we are extremely pleased to be partnering with one of the industry’s most read and most influential publications. This generous donation of display advertising will allow us to reach more potential clubs, coaches and participants and help build the Scholastic Steel Challenge program,” said Scott Moore, director of SSC.
